First Swimming Lessons!
Addison started her first swimming lessons last week, and boy were they a hit! We're in a class called "Aqua Tots" for 9-24 month olds...and I swim with her. Our class is very small, we're down to only 3 other mom/babies. I must have picked the right time slot because the class right before ours has at least 10! The class is 30 minutes, and consists of lots of fun songs and games that help get the babies comfortable in the water. We do lots of splashing, kicking, reaching and pulling, and blowing bubbles! Well, I'm doing most of the bubble blowing, since it's a hard skill to learn for Addison's age group! She's managed to blow a few bubbles, but she's also had some big gulps of pool water! We lucked out last week with gorgeous weather, and we're crossing our fingers that this coming week is nice as well.
In keeping with the swimming theme, we bought Addison a little plastic pool and let her splash around in our yard. Loved it! We also introduced her to the sprinkler...what a hoot to watch her figure that one out!
Still not walking...but she's just now trying to stand up from sitting position, which is a new thing for her. She's also pulling up and cruising along walls in our house, so sooner or later she's going to take those first "real" steps!
I've posted some fun swimming pictures on the photo site. :)

No More Bottle
Today we had a reflux recheck appointment with Addison's pediatrician. She's gone through one full bottle of Zantac, with minimal change in her coughing. She's still coughing while she sleeps. It wakes her up, and makes for a fussy girl. We finally put two and two together (the Dr. did!) and realized that we're still giving her a bottle before bed. She drinks 5 oz. before nap time, and 8 oz. before bedtime. The Dr. thinks that this fully tummy while lying down is the culprit. He also wants to up her dosage of Zantac. So tonight, I gave her a sippy cup of milk with dinner. She drank the majority, but wasn't pleased later when there wasn't a bottle at bedtime! She kept looking around for it, taking her binky out and whining. Hopefully this will do the trick and she won't wake up hacking.

Water Baby
Thank goodness we have Addison signed up for swimming lessons starting next week, because this kid can't get enough of the water. She cries when we pull her out of the bathtub, and this past weekend she showed no fear towards the shoreline at Hood Canal! We spent a couple of days at our family beach cabin, and the highlight was watching Addison beeline for the water! This actually terrified me, as she would have gone straight in had we not chased her down and plucked her up! Chris and I kept laughing at the "scooting trail" she left in the sand, while she made her way to the water!
Stuffing rocks in her mouth also made me a bit nervous...but she quickly learned that they don't taste good!
Speaking of tasting good...not much tastes good for our little darling lately. I think she has a handful of teeth coming in that are bothering her. She only wants to eat cheese, bananas, YoBaby and applesauce. Tonight she wouldn't let me brush her teeth, and this is not normal because she loves to suck off the strawberry banana toothpaste! She's been especially fussy as well, not our normal happy girl. Let's hope these teeth make an entrance soon, because this clingy, can't-let-mommy-out-of-my-sight phase is HARD!

Almost Upright!
Our little monkey scooter is almost upright! She's going to walk any day now, I can feel it. She lets us walk her around, holding onto only one hand. She's still not sure of herself, but she's definitely on her way.
She continues to babble away...it's so funny to listen to her. Today I could have sworn she said Kalakala! Maybe she wants to go for a ferry ride? For those of you who are not from the PNW, the Kalakala was a famous ferry.
I promise to get some "walking" on video soon. And some Kalakala. :)

The Apple Doesn't Fall Far...
We recently found out that Addison LOVES to be massaged. In particular, she loves us to rub her feet! Like mother, like daughter! One night she was being fussy while I was putting on her jammies after her bath, so I put a dab of lotion on my hands and started rubbing it into her feet. She immediately calmed down, and had this glazed-over look on her face, like "Ahhhhhhhh." She also likes us to rub her little shoulders...it's so funny to see her face! What have we created? :)
