The Joy of 2

It's only been since February, but hey, it's better than nothing, right? Life is in full swing in our household, between moving into our new house, birthdays, school, vacation, you name it...things move in warp speed around here! Here is a rundown of the last few months.

In March, Addison turned 4! We had a princess party at our house, and she's still talking about it. She's now planning a "mermaid party" for her 5th birthday. In March I also mailed off my National Boards Portfolios, and my oh my was that the best feeling ever! I won't find out my scores until November. Long time to wait, but to be honest, I haven't thought much about it!
In April, we spent most of the month packing. Pretty boring.

In May we moved to our new house (down the road from our old one!) and we're still settling in! We love the space, it's amazing to think how much we missed having the littlest things, like a LINEN CLOSET, or a BROOM CLOSET! And a garage. Oh how we love having a garage. It's mainly Chris' domain, but I love having quick access to the car, strollers, bikes, etc.

May also brought my National Boards Assessment, a 3 hour written test. Yikes. Again, a huge sense of relief to be finished! At the end of May, we headed to Jamaica for Joe and Nicole's wedding! It was incredible. Although traveling with 2 small children brought its challenges, it was worth the headaches! The wedding and every little detail was spectacular, we were so lucky to be there to witness Joe and Nicole's vows, and welcome Nicole into our family!
May is not over yet, believe it or not, we celebrated Chris' 36th birthday on May 28 (unfortunately it was spent traveling home from Jamaica, in and out of airports!). On May 31, I traveled to Craig, Alaska, to work with a group of teachers on how to effectively teach writing. It was an amazing experience, and literally included planes, ferries and 3 ton vans! It was a very remote town, and getting there was quite a feat! If I ever go again, I will opt for the float plane option, instead of the 3 hour ferry ride!
June entailed finishing up the school year, Addison ended her first year of preschool on June 10, and I concluded on June 22. On June 30, we celebrated Will's 2nd birthday! We were due to leave for New York the following day, so we didn't plan a party for him until July, but we ate cupcakes and sang to him, and he was thrilled! July flew by with a wink of an eye. We ended up staying home from New York because our cousin's mother in law passed away the day before we were due to leave, and we didn't feel right attending the family reunion at their house, without them there. We ended up spending the 4th of July weekend at home, and attended the Kirkland parade, which is always so much fun. Addison rode her scooter and Will drove his police car, in the children's parade. They were so adorable dressed in their red, white and blue. The following weekend we had a small, family party for Will's birthday. Auntie Tara and Uncle Mike, and Gary and Lynda (Tara's parents) gave Will a Lightening McQueen ATV! He absolutely loves it, and so does his big sister. They toot around on it in our yard, and we've taken it to the cabin twice now, and he loves zooming around on the cabin deck and grass! We've spent a couple of long weekends at the cabin this July. Will is a maniac there, so hard to contain! He wants to constantly run down to the beach, and if we turn our head for even a second, he is high-tailing it down to the water! He also loves to explore the creek behind the cabin, Addison does too, and this always puts me on high alert because he's always trying to escape us to run up the embankment to go to the creek! Trips to the cabin are NOT relaxing by any means!
I hope to start blogging more, and staying on top of things! Once school starts, I don't know how good I'll be, but my goal is to TRY! :)

You Little Junker!

Blogging hasn't been my thing lately. In fact, I'm feeling guilty for even typing these words. I should be typing endlessly for my National Boards right now. I can see the light though, my portfolios are due March 31. I'm NOWHERE near being complete, but I know what I need to do, it's just finding time to do it! There aren't many moments when I don't have someone hanging on me or needing me in some way.

I can't even begin to update this blog from where I left off in the fall...too much! I'll start with where we are now....which includes LOTS of chasing. Of Will, that is. We have one busy little guy! He is sooooo much work right now. Nothing is sacred, and he loves to destroy things. If he grabs a piece of paper or piece of electronics (remote, cell phone, ipod, etc) he's not supposed to have, he runs like the wind with a huge grin on his face, and then he crumples up or THROWS it! Addison has started calling him a "little junker!" We have no clue where this came from, but we think it's hilarious! Will's hair is out of this world right now, we joke that he has a strong resemblance to Krusty the Klown from The Simpsons!

We're also doing a lot of deciphering of Will's language these days....he's not one to enunciate well, so most of the time his words are no where near the actual word! Everything is BUH, BOO, BAH. He can say Mama, Dada, Baba, Nana, Adda (Addison) and a few others, but his speech is very limited. He definitely gets his point across though, with lots of animated squeals, pointing and relentless noises! We love our little junker!
More updates in the future...our little Princess is turning 4 soon, so we'll have lots to talk about!
