Time to update!

I've been a bad blogger. I have every intention of updating the blog, with funny stories and events that I want to make sure to mark in history, but every time I have a spare moment, it seems that something (or someone!) distracts me, and I say to myself "I'll do it tomorrow." I've promised myself that I'm going to start being a better blogger from now on. Time is going by too quickly, and so many things have been blog-worthy lately, I don't even know where to start.
Addison: She's not a toddler anymore! It seems like overnight, she became a little girl. (sniff sniff!) Her language continually blows me away. I have no idea where she gets half of the stuff that she says! She asks sooooooo many questions, which is so cute because we can see her mind processing the answers as we're explaining something to her. If she doesn't understand, she wrinkles her eyebrows and looks baffled and asks us to explain. If she's told she can't do something, she'll say "How not, Mommy?" Too cute. I can't bear to correct her on that one! She's also extremely observant. If I happen to do something as simple as wrinkle my nose or scratch my head, she's say "Why you do that with your nose?" Watch out if I have a zit...she can spot one coming on before I even know it's there!

She absolutely LOVES her Toddler Group. Lately, she's been talking much more about her friends! I love that her focus has shifted from being excited about things like her teacher and art, to NOW being cognizant of friends and relationships. This, to me, is marking a shift in her development. Of course she still loves to sit at the art table and paint away, but she also talks about her friends and WHO she'll see at Toddler Group.

The other big topic of conversation lately has been Addison's BIRTHDAY. She's ecstatic about it, and it's still two months away! She's told me that she wants a "Ballerina Party." She wants everyone to wear tutus. Ok, we can handle that request! However, last week, she suddenly threw in a wrench: "I want a ballerina party, and NO BOYS!" Huh? Where did this come from? She loves her little boyfriends! Maguire, Luke, Will and Bridger are definitely her faves, and she's not going to be discriminatory and not invite boys to her birthday! She's going to learn an early lesson on including both girls and boys! I think we've been letting her watch a little bit too much Olivia...or maybe Max and Ruby. Both shows have bossy sisters who have annoying little brothers, so maybe she's picked up the "no boys" thing there!

More to come on the birthday saga....

Will: What a sweet little love bug! He's ALL OVER the place, crawling and into everything. Our eyes can never leave him for even a second, he's so quick. Plus, everything goes into his mouth at this stage, so I've been paranoid with all of the little pieces from Addison's toys getting into his hands and of course, mouth. He is such a happy little guy, rarely melting down. He goes with the flow, and puts up with our busy schedule. Sleep still isn't the greatest, he's waking up 2-3 times per night, usually once around 10, again at 1, again at 4, then hopefully down until 6:30 or 7. If he is like his sister, he should start sleeping for 10 hours straight very soon! Addison did 10 hour stretches around 8 months. I'm counting the days!!

This month we put Will in the bathtub with his sister, and he absolutely loves it! Addison just does her own thing, occasionally interacting with him, or trying to give him a glass of water to drink!

Will is also finally sitting up on his own, and able to sit without toppling over. It was weird, he was crawling WAY before he was able to sit up without support. Usually babies sit first, then crawl. Not our kid! I really think he's going to be walking way sooner than Addison (Addison walked at 16 months!) and probably catapulting out of his crib too. This little guy is very active!

The other big happening this month is "Operation Preschool Search." Yes, preschool registration starts in January around here, which is crazy early, but that's the way it is! I'm still in shock that we're going to have a preschooler! We've narrowed it down to two schools in our area, and both have waitlists and are hard to get into. I'm crossing my fingers that we get into one over the other, but if it doesn't work out, option 2 is fine. I'm just being nit-picky because the teacher in me is coming out, and there are certain things I'm looking for. But I've also told myself that as long as Addison is happy and loves going to school, that all that matters.

Both kids are sick at the moment, Will is getting over a double ear infection (his second!) and Addison has a terrible cough and congestion. Weren't we sick not too long ago? Ugh.

That's it for now...more to come soon!
