Lay off the cookies, Mama!

Yesterday I had my 24 week check up with my OB. All is well...no more monitoring of the UTI since it's gone! It was a normal, routine appointment. However....I did find out that I've gained a bit more weight than I'd like. The doctor didn't say anything negative, or tell me to lay off the sweets, but I'm telling MYSELF that I need to slow down! Here's the problem: COOKIES. My mom bakes cookies every night (yes, every night!) for my dad's clinic. I'll be sitting downstairs, minding my own business, when the smell of oatmeal raisin cookies (or chocolate chip, or butterscotchies) WAFTS down the stairs, and puts me into a catatonic state, pulling me up the stairs, like I have a leash attached to me, placing me right before a tray of hot, soft, heavenly cookies. I try to add a healthy component to the affair, by pouring a huge glass of milk to go with the 2 (or 3, sometimes 4!) cookies that I scarf down.
So....I think this is the culprit. It's so hard to resist! We will be moving out in 2 weeks, so maybe my next appointment in April won't be so depressing! (we found a rental close by, we'll be renting for about 6 months, and in the meantime, hopefully our house will be in the process of being built!)
On another note, our little guy is still lying transversely across my belly...but he's kind of at a downward angle, so this is good! The doctor said that we'll take a look to see where he is at my 32 week appt. She knows how paranoid I am about having another breech baby! He has plenty of time to move into position, so cross your fingers and send some telepathic thoughts to him, telling him to put his head DOWN! :)
For those of you that don't know, I had a planned C-Section with Addison because she was breech (Frank Breech, in the pike position) and they couldn't flip her because I didn't have enough amniotic fluid) So this go round, we're trying for a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After C-Section). My doctor said I'm a good candidate for it, and she and her practice are one of the few remaining practices around that are willing to do VBACS. This is because of insurance liability issues. We've hired a Doula, which was highly recommended when a VBAC is attempted. Chris and I are attending a VBAC class this weekend...there are certain things that are different with VBACS than normal vaginal deliveries. We shall find out the details this weekend!

I can't blame you about the cookies. If I smelled them every night- I would eat them too. I always have some kind of treat at night. A bad pregnancy habit but one that makes getting through all of this a little easier. Plus- soon you won't have the luxury of eating cookies that someone else baked for you!
