Allergy Update
We had Addison's blood drawn a few weeks ago, to find out if her sesame and shrimp allergies are still present. We just got the results back and the sesame allergy is GONE! We're amazed! The shrimp allergy is still present, it's a Level 2 allergy (fairly mild) but we still need to keep our Epipens just in case. The Allergist wants her to still stay away from sesame, even though she tested clear from it...just to stay on the safe side, and she also needs to stay away from all shellfish. She also showed a slight reaction to mussels, so that will be easy to keep her away from! We will bring her back to the Allergist in a year, and they will reintroduce the foods to her orally, in the office. We accidentally gave her a cheeseburger with a sesame seed bun last week...my mom and I took Addison & Will to Red Robin, and the burgers there come wrapped up with just a bit showing, so I didn't see the bun, and honestly, I completely blanked on checking it, which is unusual for me. She asked me for help peeling the wrapper off, after she'd taken a few bites, and that's when I noticed the sesame seeds! We'd already gotten the allergy results, so I didn't panic. I watched her and checked her neck and face, and all was fine. Whew! I'll probably continue to read labels and make sure she stays away from sesame seeds (and hummus) just to play it safe.
